Within the group, all children are supported in developing their potential at their own pace with the help of their key person. We offer a wide range of activities including painting, play dough, sand, water play, role play, cooking, singing, construction toys, early maths led games and science experiments, physical activities and more.
Through all these activities children will develop social skills such as taking turns with others, resolving differences of opinion, group conversation and learning to share and work together.
We are registered for up to 20 children at each session (term time only), with an adult:child ratio of 1:6 for over 3 year olds.
A typical day
Our mornings begin when the children are welcomed into Pre-school at 8.45 am.
They self-register, followed by a morning welcome time where we share our news and use Makaton signs to great each other.
We organise our sessions so that children can choose from, and work at, a range of activities and, in doing so, build up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion.
There is often a creative activity with individual support from staff following the interests of our children.
A healthy snack and drink is provided by us and is available during the morning.
The children come together in a group towards the end of the session, for circle time activities or singing. The session ends with story time.
At lunch times, 12 to 1 pm, we sit together and eat our healthy packed lunch brought in from home.
